Growing Vascular Grafts
April 13, 2010 | Terry Sharrer
Xcellerex, Inc. (Marlborough, MA) and Humacyte, Inc. (Research Triangle Park, NC) have announced their strategic partnership to grow vascular tissue for human implantation. Xcellerex builds bioreactor systems (e.g. fermentation and purification equipment) and will use its technology to grow large diameter vascular grafts that Humacyte has developed from extracellular matrices. Regenerative coronary arteries could be one application. Human trials are forecast, but not yet begun. MORE
