Robotic Cells to Fight Cancer
November 30, 2009 | Terry Sharrer
In the not too distant future, robotic cells may be able to target tumors, and perhaps, even kill them. At UCSF, cellular engineer Wendell Lim has discovered a way to get cells to act as robots. He reprograms them by changing their DNA, and those cells can be ‘trained’ and to act as mules, carrying agents to precise locations. See a 2.25 minute video of Wendell Lim and a demonstration of how these cells work. CREDIT: SmartPlanet.com
