Professor Robert Wood at Harvard Receives $10M Grant for Medical Robots

Anyone old enough to remember US Senator William Proxmire’s “golden fleece” awards, can imagine how he would react to the NSF granting $10m to Harvard for research aimed at simulating the functions of honeybees’ antennae and eyes. But through this work, the investigators expect to develop dynamic systems for micro-robots in surgery and other medical applications. Professor Robert Wood, in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, is the principal investigator, with collaborators from the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering. MORE
