“Xintek,” an imaging company in Research Triangle Park, NC, will be testing this summer a new device that uses an array of carbon nanotubes which emit x-rays for ultrafast, ultrasharp pictures of internal tissues. Instead of a single “slice,” this machine has nanotubes firing, off and on, in sequence to produce an image. Physicists at the University of North Carolina developed this novel approach. MORE
