Researchers at Washington University in St. Louis, William Richard and David Zar, have developed a compact ultrasound probe and software to do ultrasound imaging on a smart phone. The probe simply plugs into the phones USB port. They are offering the software as an open source product and foresee the probe costing about $200 when it’s commercial available. MORE
