RFID has many applications in healthcare, but a Dallas, TX company, MicroTransponder, has taken radio-frequency in a new direction altogether-making a wearable cuff transponder that sends electrical pulses to electrodes implanted near the spinal cord to override pain sensation. Radio waves, from the transponder’s coil wirelessly power the electrodes. This is the same idea as large neural stimulators, but on a micro scale. MORE
