VisionCare Telescope

VisionCare Ophthalmic Technologies (Saratoga, CA) has developed a small (pencil eraser size) telescope that can be implanted in the eye of someone with macular degeneration to restore vision to a significant extent.  The FDA has given its approval for commercial production.  The telescope is place to the side-i.e. to compensate for macular degeneration-and magnifies what otherwise would be peripheral vision.       MORE
