Seeing Drugs in Living Cells

A Harvard research group has used a highly sensitive microscope, employing Simulated Raman Scatering (which can detect vibrations in the bonds between atoms) to give a real time, 3D image of drug actions in living cells without fluorescent tags. The group’s research report about this appeared in the same issue of Science (Dec. 19, 2008) that carried the “Breakthrough of the Year: Reprogramming Cells.” MORE
