Lorie Karnath's bio:


Lorie Karnath is currently the President of the Explorers club and is involved in numerous philanthropic activities focusing much of these efforts on the fields of science and education, conceiving and implementing many programs around the world which foster creativity, discovery and the sciences. She also participates on numerous international scientific and educational boards. An avid explorer, she is a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society as well as an international fellow, board member and Western European Chapter and Science Advisory Committee chair of the Explorers Club. As an explorer, she has traveled the world in search of answers to some of the planet’s most elusive questions. She is also a lecturer and author of many international articles and books, including “Nobel Journey”, the children’s book on science “Wohin geht die Sonne, wenn ich schlafe?”(Where Does the Sun Go While I Sleep”, “Eine kurze Geschichte des Vermessens” (A Short Story on Measurement) and “The Return of the Storks”.

Ms. Karnath previously ran the international operations for Rescentris and oversaw the scientific advisory board, she also served in a similar capacity for LabBook, Inc. Ms. Karnath has a background in finance and investment banking, focusing on the life sciences arena. She serves on the board of the National Foundation for Cancer Research, she is the representative for the Nobel Laureates in Lindau, and serves on a number of other boards and committees. She has written extensively on knowledge management.

She attended William Smith College and Fordham University graduating with high honors and received her MBA from INSEAD as well as an honorary Ph.D. from Shenandoah University. She resides in Germany and the US.
