MEDICAL AUTOMATION EXPERTS

Jane Fruchtnicht's bio:

Jane Fruchtnicht is a healthcare educator, administrator, nurse manager, and clinician. She led the successful implementation of a unique and innovative combination of the departments of education at University of Virginia Health Center and the University’s School of Nursing, building a department that presented both professional development programs for hospital-based personnel and continuing education programs for an international market.

As the leader of several nursing education departments, Jane implemented a range of progressive learning strategies including research-based orientation programs and preceptorships for nursing graduates, computer and web-based learning, video conferencing/distance learning, and blended learning. Utilizing survey research and instructional design processes, she implemented customized strategies consistent with the content and audience and developed multi-level evaluative approaches. Among the results were increased educational participation and enhanced nursing retention.

Jane’s success as a senior healthcare educator and administrator was based on her experience as a clinician with areas of expertise in intensive care and neurology/neurosurgical nursing, a manager at Massachusetts General and Georgetown University Hospitals, and a teacher of student and graduate nurses, advanced practitioners, managers, and administrators.

During her career, Jane served in numerous professional leadership positions including: President of Beta Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau, Chair of the Continuing Education Approval Committee for The Virginia Nurses’ Association, Chair of the Education Committee for the Virginia Organization of Nurse Executives, and Founder of the Blue Ridge Nursing Staff Development Organization. Her community service includes tutor and President of the Board of Directors for Literacy Volunteers of Charlottesville/Albemarle and Hospice of the Piedmont volunteer.

Jane earned her Master’s Degree in Nursing at Catholic University, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Maryland, and her Diploma in Nursing at St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
