“Children who undergo hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) for sickle cell disease (SCD) experience normalization of whole-brain hemodynamics, according to a cohort study published in Blood. This restoration of cerebral oxygen reserve may explain stroke protection following HSCT in this high-risk patient population,” according to the researchers at Washington University in St. Louis.” MORE
