“There are two fundamental questions that persist across all subfields of biology: “What are the cues that govern the formation and stability of the differentiated state, and can we recapitulate morphogenesis in culture?” These questions are important because having the ability to recapitulate tissue function and dissect disease progression in vitro opens many doors for drug discovery and allows researchers to explore questions that can’t be answered in vivo.” This piece discussed the value of organoids in disease modeling, drug screening, and personalized medicine.
