Multiple vital signs monitors, ultrasound imaging, two-way videography all exist and could easily be adapted to medical emergency transport (ambulances in this case, but helicopters too) if the data transmission speed allowed for this level of telemedicine. At University Hospitals Birmingham (UK), researchers have carried out studies about how these 5G enabled “smart ambulances” could both save lives and divert patients who didn’t need hospitalization.
