Electricity via WiFi

The idea of transmitting electricity through air sounds like science fiction, but researchers at MIT have demonstrated how that is possible with a device they call a “rectenna.” It converts AC electromagnetic waves, including those of WiFi, into DC electricity. These engineers see this as a way to power wearable and implantable sensors, internet-of-things connected devices, and data communications sensors and cloud-based computers. MORE
