A stethoscope, hung casually around a physician’s neck, is as evocative of the profession as a white coat. But a stethoscope is only as accurate as the doctor’s experience and hearing. Now, Eko (Berkeley, CA), a maker of smart electronic stethoscopes, and the Mayo Clinic, which has thousands of high fidelity auscultation recordings, are teaming up to apply artificial intelligence to automate heart screenings.
