Keep in mind that the Human Genome Project completed its “rough draft” only a dozen years ago; since then, genomic information has avalanched. This piece asks what the next 40 years might bring and the authors have two projections. The first is that applications will be more important than sequencing technology itself, and second, that DNA may be more useful for information storage than for characterizing health and illness.
