2017 P/M Nobel Prize for Understanding Internal Clock

This year’s Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine, announced last month, was recognition for understanding the basis of wellness. Circadian rhythm influences key processes our bodies go through in a 24 hour cycle (i.e. how biology adapts to the Earth’s rotation). These processes include alertness, blood pressure, reaction time, body temperature, melatonin secretion, deep sleep, and cortisol regulation—key components of wellness.
