That’s Some “Cool” Wearable—A Robotic Jacket
March 21, 2017 | Terry Sharrer
Remember when your mother insisted that you put on a heavier jacket, or the opposite—wear something so you won’t overheat. Well, here’s a garment that may be smarter than your mother (without showing equivalent concern). Omius (Menlo Park, CA) has produced a robotic jacket with pressure and temperature sensors, and robotically controlled vents that open or close depending on the wearers body temperature. It runs off a lithium battery which has to be replaced or recharged after one day’s use. The company describes this jacket as a “second skin” and says it is priced around the cost of one made of Gor-Tex. MORE
