Hydrogels and liquid crystals each have unusual and desirable qualities, but when combined they create a material that mimics human issue. The hydrogel give a pliable feature; the liquid crystals provide shape by maintaining their shape. Researchers at Syracuse University believe that, with refinements, liquid crystalline hydrogel could have many uses in reconstructive medicine. MORE
