Viral Melanoma Therapy

The search for oncolytic viruses which can destroy malignant tumors directly or indirectly has been going on for over a century. And, disappointing results have been reported for nearly as long. Earlier this year, Amgen reported on a clinical trial of a virus called “T-VEC” which had positive results against advanced melanoma, though hardly a breakthrough. Researchers in this field are looking for a way to introduce oncolytic viruses systemically, rather than by local injection into tumors. MORE
