Mayo to Test Telehealth Kiosks
The technology supporting stand-alone telehealth kiosks has existed for several years. Theoretically, they could be placed in hospital emergency rooms (for quicker service), fire/rescue stations (where EMTs are available), pharmacies, and other sites; so why aren’t they popping up everywhere? Perhaps it is because, as inventor/humorist Jeffrey Carlisle says of healthcare providers, “we love innovation so long as it’s nothing new.” This is not as true of the Cleveland Clinic or Mayo Clinic, which greatly explains why they are among the most respected leaders in their field. Mayo Clinic is now testing telehealth kiosks in their own facilities and if the results are satisfactory will expand the services to workplaces with large numbers of employees in Minnesota. MORE
