Craig Venter’s Aging Database Project

In 2003 Craig Venter’s Celera Corporation tied the government’s Human Genome Project in sequencing human DNA, and now Venter is launching another company, Human Longevity (San Diego, CA) to provide a huge database on health and aging. The new effort aims to build up to a capacity of sequencing 100,000 genomes per year and to sequence all the organisms that make up the human microbiome. Simply in terms of human genes, this represents two efforts—one in identifying disease related factors, and the other, for aging unrelated to diseases. MORE
