“PAM50” Test Kit for Recurrent Breast Cancer

Personalized cancer treatment depends upon subclassifications of patients’ diseases, such as breast cancer’s sub groups: luminal A, luminal B, HER-2 enriched, and basal-like. Pathologists at the University of North Carolina’s Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center have developed such a test called “PAM 50” which sorts out molecular differences based on the expression levels of fifty genes and results in a risk of recurrence score within 10 years. Patients with lower scores can be treated with less aggressive strategies. MORE
