Wilm’s Tumor Vaccine Effective for CML

Wilm’s tumor of the kidney most often presents in children, while chronic myelogenous leukemia of the bone marrow usual is found in middle aged or elderly people. Both are highly treatable with chemotherapies, but recently researchers at the University of Southampton (UK) have carried out clinical trials that show a DNA vaccine for Wilm’s tumor is highly effective for CML and possibly acute myelogenous leukemia too. While this piece doesn’t make a case for whole genome sequencing, where CML’s “Philadelphia chromosome” might be detected early in life and prevented with a DNA anti-cancer vaccine, that possibility for wellness seems a little closer.
