Psychiatric Patients in the ED

Hospitals that claim a 30 minute waiting time in their Emergency Departments must have found a solution to handling psychiatric patients who have to wait while more seriously sick people are taken. This piece from The Modesto (CA) Bee describes a situation that occurs everywhere. It is a problem for which telemedicine kiosks (either in the ED or any other location) offer an obvious solution. Indeed, in a European study, telemedicine access proved as effect or better than seeing a physician in person. MORE
