Japan’s consumer electronics giants, which once dominated the world market for televisions, music machines, and cameras, have been losing customers to South Korean and American competitors such as Samsung and Apple. Not surprisingly, then, the Japanese are exploring new areas of consumerism, such as retail healthcare and wellness.
