National Health Strategy: an App and a Pill

In the British Museum’s Wellcome Gallery, two long stretches of fabric, each with 14,000 drugs sewn into tiny pouches, are exhibited under the title “Cradle to Grave.” They represent the number of prescribed medications the typical British man and woman will take over a lifetime, and in that, the display is a model of how the National Health Service mainly works. Recently, the Health Secretary also recommended that family physicians “prescribe” any of 500 mobile phone apps that assist with self management. MORE
