“Microvascular Stamp” Bandage

In the mind’s eye, imagine a postage stamp with live cells arrayed upon its surface in a specific pattern. The cells release angiogenesis factors that stimulate wound healing. That’s roughly the idea of researchers at the University of Illinois who have created a hydrogel with cells imbedded between layers of polyethylene glycol and methacrylic alginate.
