CMS “Decision Support System” on Imaging
October 19, 2010 | Terry Sharrer
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid hope to enlist up to 3,000 private practice physicians to study how they make imaging decisions-i.e. whether to order a CT or MRI, when a simple X ray or ultrasound might be just as effective. CMS has $10 m to pay cooperating doctors who answer a questionnaire and submit their answers electronically over a two year term. The aim of this is to develop a decision support system that will be effective and cost reducing. MORE
