NYU Professor Ken Perlin develop pressure sensitive pad
October 6, 2009 | Terry Sharrer
NYU Professor of Computer Science Ken Perlin, and his graduate student, Ilya Rosenberg, have developed a pressure sensitive pad based on an ink that changes its electrical resistance when touch is applied. And, unlike the common pressure pads on devices like laptop computers and PDA’s, this pad can react to multiple touches at the same time Perlin and Rosenberg foresee lots of possible applications, as, for example, in gait monitoring shoe pads and bed mats that calculate to warn of pressure sores.
