Offshore IT
Annually, Stamford, CT-based Gartner, Inc. lists the top 30 countries for offshore IT services and predicts growth in that field. For 2008, Gartner advises a growth of 60% in offshore IT from Europe and a 40% from the US. India, China and Singapore usually lead the listing of countries where most of this work is going, but events such as the terror attacks in Mumbai can shift opportunities. Economic conditions too influence which countries see expansion or contraction: coming off the 2008 list for economic uncertainty were Northern Ireland, Sri Lanka, Turkey and Uruguay, while Egypt, Morocco, Panama and Thailand climbed into the top 30. Increasingly, hospitals and medical practices are outsourcing things such as radiology reads, billing, and HR records. MORE
