B. Alton Brantley's bio:


B. Alton Brantley, MD, PhD is a consultant to hospitals, healthcare systems, physicians, and academic institutions, specializing in information systems department organization, technology assessment, and clinical systems adoption methodologies. He has also consulted with healthcare organizations, healthcare information technology companies, pharmaceutical companies, and the American Cancer Society.

Earlier, Dr. Brantley served as senior vice president and chief information officer at MedStar Health, a Maryland multi-hospital system, and chief information officer and associate professor of medicine at Penn State University's Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and as director of academic computing for Duke University. He has served on the board and as president of the Maryland Society for Health Information Systems Management, and is a charter member of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives.

Dr. Brantley is a board-certified internist with specialty training in medical oncology and a doctorate of philosophy in computer science. He received his MD, his PhD. and his postgraduate medical training at Duke University.
