As this piece admits, “biomedical applications may be too far away to envision” (though perhaps not for MAIN’s readers), the achievement of creating a bio-robot is astonishing. Quoting directly: “Roboticists have for the first time built an automated computational system for controlling the movements of a living multicellular organism—a genetically engineered worm (Caenorhabditis elegans) whose muscles contract in response to blue light.
