Some time ago, Qualcomm announced the winner of its Tricorder X Prize of $10 million.  Since then, other handheld devices, reflection Star Trek’s tricorder, have appeared, and this piece describes one designed to identify SARS-CoV-2 on objects and peoples’ bodies.  “The scanner emits a beam that gathers data for analysis to determine if a spike protein — which is a protein that enables viruses like SARS-CoV-2 to penetrate host cells and cause infection — is present.
