Maybe aging is a curable disease, but what then? How large can the human population grow before an opportunistic pathogen devastates the elderly and maybe even questions our species survival? This piece asks interesting questions with useful observations about natural processes that set peoples’ health span. It also points out that aging research may find insights for dealing with cancer, immune deficiency, metabolic disease and other conditions often found among the aged.
