Collaborating bioengineers at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (Melbourne, Australia) and San Diego-based Organovo have demonstrated how to use automated extrusion bioprinting to create “fingernail-sized” mini kidneys for testing drug toxicities. These organoids are fully functional and raise hope for printing transplantable organs. MORE
