AI and Imaging for Defining Mental Disorders

There are no blood or genetic tests for mental illnesses, and they are famously difficult to define by behaviors. Knowing that a team of psychiatrists at the University of Tokyo combined artificial intelligence (machine learning) with neuroimaging to see what objective markers they could discover for schizophrenia, autism, and other disorders. The marker they found most consistent, leading to 85% accuracy, was the thickness of the cerebral cortex. MORE
