Myc Transcription in Regenerating Damaged Heart

One of the curiosities of cancer research is why heart tissue is so much less likely to upregulate expression of the Myc gene (so named for the avian virus in which it was first discovered). Myc regulates about 15% of all genes, and it implicated in cancers of the cervix, colon, breast, lung and stomach.
