Optical Sensor Detects Cancer Cells in Urine

In searching for a protein associated with human tumor progression, researchers at the University of Twente in The Netherlands have developed a biochip sensor with an integrated laser that can detect the protein, “S100A4,” in a urine sample. They believe this could provide an inexpensive, handheld tool for non-invasively detecting cancer at an early stage. MORE
