Isotope imaging of aging Pancreatic cells
“Age mosaicism” is the term researchers at the Salk Institute use describe their findings about variable cellular aging in organs. In the pancreas, they found that insulin-producing beta cells turn over quickly compared to neighboring delta cells that do not divide at all. They used very slowly aging neurons as a baseline for comparison with other cells. ““The ultimate goal is to utilize these mechanisms to prevent or delay age-related decline of organs with limited cell renewal.” MORE
