Most medical ultrasound machines cost between $20,000 and $75,000, though some go for well more than $100,000, not including delivery, installation, training and maintenance. Butterfly Network (Guilford, CT), however, has a “pocket” machine that consists of a transducer which plugs into an iPhone, with app-generated images. “The “ultrasound-on-chip” ultra wide band matrix array makes within the Butterfly iQ lets it work as though it has three different transducers built-in.” The device sells for under $2,000.
