Prospects for Borophene
May 21, 2019 | Terry Sharrer
Biomedical engineers are still scrambling to find novel applications for graphene (discovered in 2004). Thus far, the list includes sensors, nanotubes, microfluidic devices, touch sensors, 3D printed artificial nerves, graphene enabled DNA sequencers, and just about every aspect of nanomedicine. But now there is a new two-dimensional material, borophene (2D layer of boron atoms) that is stronger and more flexible than graphene and has similar properties for conducting electricity and heat. Engineers—“start your engines.” MORE
