First 3D Printed Heart with Blood Vessels

Researchers at Tel Aviv University announced that they have 3D printed a cherry-sized heart with human tissues and vascularization. It’s too weak to actually pump blood, but it does contract. A few years ago, a scientist at the University of Minnesota showed a rat’s heart that had been synthesized on a scaffold and populated with cardiac stem cells. Printing a heart, however, opens a new door for regenerative medicine. MORE
