University of Queensland researchers have observed in mice that fast oscillating ultrasound waves cause microglial cells to digest and dispose of amyloid plaques in the brain. They believe this could be a breakthrough in treating dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, and they expect to begin human trials sometime this year. MORE
