UCSD neuroscientists have grown stem cells into tissue resembling the brain’s cortex. Further, those “organoids” display EEG patterns similar to that of premature babies. While this could be an alternative to collecting fetal brain tissue for research, a question arises about the possibility of those cell masses presenting “consciousness.” MORE
