Injectable Electronic “Cells”

This isn’t a “Fantastic Voyage,” but it takes some inspiration from that 1966 movie. MIT engineers have designed cell-sized “robots” that can swim through the bloodstream to a desired location. Called “syncells,” these robots are made from two sheets of graphene, with polymer electronics sandwiched in between. A key feature is a controlled fracturing process that allows the syncells to break away cleanly—thus allowing these devices to be manufactured massively. MORE
