BioPen for Cartilage Regeneration

Australian bioengineers have built a device called “the BioPen,” which extrudes a hydrogel material infused with fat-derived stem cells to repair cartilage damage. The BioPen also has a small UV lamp that hardens the material as it is deposited. So far, this has only been demonstrated in animal studies and without cartilage growth factors in the hydrogel, but the steps toward a human clinical trial are clear. MORE WITH VIDEO
