International eICU monitoring

Heretofore, licensure has limited telemedicine across state and international boundaries. A physician licensed in Idaho, for example, couldn’t do telemonitoring in Maryland, much less in Mexico. But Emory Health in Atlanta and Royal Perth Hospital in Western Australia may have a new model. Using Philips eICU technology, Emory-employed doctors and nurses in Perth are able to monitor patients in the U.S. “This virtual care model enables the Perth-based US clinicians to provide remote nighttime critical care support to patients in Atlanta, Georgia during daytime hours in Perth. This model helps to reduce the burden of traditional night shift work.” MORE
