Measuring Heat of Drug-Target Interaction
May 8, 2018 | Terry Sharrer
Chemical reactions almost always generate heat, and knowing that biochemists at McGill University have applied isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) to measuring the heat generated when a drug acts as an enzyme inhibitor with its molecular target. “By providing a direct window on the reaction, ITC offers researchers a better insight into the mechanisms by which enzyme inhibition proceeds. It is usually very challenging, and sometimes next to impossible, to obtain this information from conventional assays.” MORE
