In many gene therapy trials, viral vectors transform producer cells. But from the beginning, researchers knew viruses were not the best delivery “vehicles.” And, the search has gone on. This report from the University of Basel may have a better solution: artificial organelles –i.e. polymer spheres that can be loaded with enzymes and delivered inside cells by a change in glutathione concentration. Might this approach also be turned to delivering DNA? MORE
